Frequently Asked Questions

  • Are you a licensed roofing contractor?
Yes, we are licensed to work anywhere in the state of Washington. Our License #: 603055951. Your local city may require a permit, which we will obtain on your behalf, and is paid for during final invoicing. Our business license is available to review any time you wish, simply call the office and we will send it to you.
  • Does KLIM Roofing have workman's compensation insurance?
Yes, we are insured, and our employees are covered by worker’s compensation. The state of Washington requires that our worker’s comp be carried through the state department of Labor & Industries. We cover each of our employees, and follow the state's strict safety guidelines. Additionally, we have a full-time safety monitor that travels around to all our jobs to make sure that we are safety compliant. Roofing is dangerous work, and we take safety very seriously. People who hire companies who are habitual safety violators are partially responsible for risking the safety of workers. Before you consider hiring a roofing company, do your research.
  • Does KLIM Roofing accept Credit Cards?
Yes, we accept all major credit cards: VISA, MasterCard and American Express.
  • When and how do we pay you?
You pay us when you are happy. We don’t collect a deposit, and you pay us upon completion. This is a risk we are willing to take, because we are that confident in what we do.
  • What warranty does my roof have?
The warranty discussion is very complex, but we are fully trained and experienced in manufacturing warranties. We can guide you through any questions you may have. Each roofing technology offer a different warranty. Our typical composition roof has a 50-year non prorated warranty from the manufacturer for defects, and our workmanship is covered by the manufacturer for 25 years. Always read the fine print, and call us for a real and honest discussion.
  • Do you roof year around?
Yes, being a roofing contractor in the Pacific Northwest has taught us how to be very aware of weather patterns. We use multiple weather forecasting technologies to anticipate weather, and NEVER remove any part of our client’s roof that cannot be protected on the same day. We take a conservative approach to projects when working during the rainy season. We’ve got you covered!
  • What will you do in the event of bad weather?
We only remove what can be covered/protected by the end of the workday. Many times, we will cover an open section with a tarp. Other times we will temporarily (dry-in) sections that we are working on. Drying in means that we will lay our synthetic roof deck protection and secure it in place with plastic cap nails. We only use high quality synthetic roof deck protection that can be left in place for up to 180 days (about 6 months). Typically, we cover it up with primary roofing within one day. We always monitor the weather to ensure we are taking every precaution possible to protect your home and roof investment; especially during the rainy season.
  • Will you clean up after my roofing project?
Yes, we will. At the end of every job we conduct a thorough clean-up and walk-through. We also magnetically sweep daily and at the end of your project. You approve final cleaning, and we won’t collect payment until you are satisfied.
  • What are the signs a roof needs to be replaced?
General signs of weathering such as leaks, missing shingles, a missing hip & ridge, loose flashings, excessive shingle granules in gutters, and ceiling spots can signal roof problems. Additionally, if your roof exhibits drastic color variations, exposed asphalt, or exposed fiberglass mat, it could be time. Structurally you will see unevenness in your roof deck, plywood rotting in your open soffits, water between your fascia and gutters. Age is another indicator. Typically, if your roof is 20 years old it could be at the end of its lifespan.
  • My roof is leaking. Do I need to have it completely replaced?
Not necessarily. Our crews can often make repairs to extend the life of a roof that is otherwise in good condition. However, if your roof is showing signs of age and wear, replacement may be the only option. Call us if your roof is leaking. We can dispatch a team to install an emergency tarp to protect your home. Nobody should have to live with the stress of water leaking into their home.
  • How do I decide which roofing material to use?
Since we offer so many options it would be impossible to list them all here in our FAQ’s. This is where our expertise comes in and helps guide you to the finding and installing the right choice for your home. Looking to go get started? Simply contact us for a hassle-free roof consultation. During the consultation we will discuss the different roofing material options to best suit your needs, style, and budget. We believe in providing custom solutions tailored to your home. No matter which product you ultimately choose, we are factory trained and factory certified to install it.
  • What is the lifespan of a metal roof?
New alloys and coatings make metal roofing panels more durable, and with an extended lifecycle that exceed that of shingles or shakes. Today’s metal roofs can be expected to last around 50 years. The most important contributor to the lifespan of a metal roof is the coating. We only install metal panels that have a Kynar coating, which is industry-recognized and trusted as the best metal roof coating out there.
  • How long do asphalt shingles last?
Shingle manufacturing technology has significantly improved over the last couple of decades. This enables manufacturers to offer lifetime limited warranties on their products for as long as you own the home in which the shingles are installed. While this is a commonly misunderstood fact by newer homeowners, we are fully trained and experienced in manufacturing warranties, and can guide you through any questions you may have. For example, our manufacturing partner GAF, offers 50 years of non-prorated coverage on their entire roofing system. This warranty is registered on all of the GAF re-roofs that we install. Always read the fine print, and call us for a real & honest discussion.
  • What is an ice dam?
Ice dams are formed by the freezing and thawing of melted snow & ice at the eaves. Ice dams can trap water up and under shingles causing leaks in your roof. In areas where winter temperatures frequently drop below freezing, ice dams can cause serious and expensive damage to a roof and to the structure of a home. On homes over 1500 feet of elevation where ice damming is more common, we install a leak barrier around the entire perimeter of the home to protect it from this phenomenon.
  • How long will it take to replace my roof?
Most residential roofing jobs can be completed in a few days. If a roof takes more than one day, we clean and secure the site at the end of each day. We take great care and precautions to protect any vulnerable areas from the weather. Once we start a roof project we stay until it is completed. We understand how invasive it can be to have a roofing project underway on your home. That's why we take measures to work efficiently.
